Jennie Walker

Jennie Walker (www.jenniewalker.com) is an artist whose talents are as diverse as they are strong.  As a Pop/Adult Contemporary singer who’s been described as “Dido meets Madonna,” she’s mastered her craft not only through a powerful, dynamic voice, but through an eclectic writing style and a business sensibility that keeps her one step ahead of the competition. Jen Chapin

Jennie’s musical journey began at the age of 4, when early influences such as Barbra Streisand and Karen Carpenter turned her love of music from passive to active.  Studying both piano and dance in her home state of Texas, her natural vocal abilities quickly surfaced and led to performances in her high school choir, the Central Texas Girl’s Choir and various community theatre programs – then on to bookings at The Miss Georgia Pageant and Miss Columbia State University Pageant.  It was during this time that she earned her B.A. and completed post-graduate Business studies so she could put a solid foundation under her creative dream.

It worked.  Based in Atlanta for 15 years, Jennie became heavily involved with local organizations and began a host of ventures:  On the performance side, she secured gigs – both as a solo act and with her band, Bailey Park – at renowned venues in Atlanta (Eddie’s Attic, Cotton Club, Redlight Café, The Freight Room, Georgia Music Industry Association Showcase) and Nashville (Bluebird Café, Nashville Country Music Showcase at SESAC offices).  On the publishing side, she was a finalist on Budweiser’s Rock To Riches album, received regional airplay on her Pop/Adult Contemporary tune, “Many Times,” had her song “Are You Still Out There?” placed in an AIDS documentary, and was signed to Lowery Music Publishing with her Country song “Loving You.”  And through it all she worked as both a demo and jingle singer, and nurtured critical relationships with key players at organizations such as The Georgia Music Hall of Fame, So So Def Recordings, LaFace Records, The Lowery Music Group, DARP, EMI Music Publishing, HITCO Music Publishing, Greenberg Traurig, Friends of Georgia Music (Georgia Music Hall of Fame), ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC.

Now based in New York, Jennie is earning a reputation as an artist on the rise.  She is currently working with Grammy nominated producer/songwriter, Tommy Faragher.  She’s performed at Le Bar Bat, The Baggot Inn, The C Note, The Triad, and Makor and was chosen for international, cause-driven performances by the Rockefeller family for South Africa’s Salvation Army site in Soweto for abused/HIV/AIDS infected children and Love Life Center’s Johannesburg facility, and even a performance for Nelson Mandela’s wife, Graça Machel, on the beaches of Mozambique.  She performed for a September 11th Tribute Concert in 2005 in Long Beach, New York.  She is a sought after voice over talent and demo singer, and stays true to her own pursuits while supporting fellow artists is evident in her volunteer work for The Recording Academy; her involvement with organizations such as The Songwriters Hall of Fame, Women in Music, World Hunger Year, National Association of Record Industry Professionals and The Songwriters Guild of America; and her formation of  J. Walker, Inc., an organization which provides fundraising consulting for music related charities, and also has a BMI affiliated publishing division for her own original works and a host of indie artists.

Jennie Walker is a member of BMI, The Recording Academy, Women in Music, The National Academy of Popular Music, The National Association of Record Industry Professionals, and The Association of Independent Music Publishers.  She serves as Advisor and President Emeritus of the Georgia Music Industry Association (GMIA), and won its 1997 President’s Award for volunteer service.  She has also appeared on top radio and TV programs such as HOT 97.5 FM Atlanta and Good Day Atlanta.
