WHY Kids
Kids Can Make A Difference is an innovative educational program for middle
and high school students. It helps them understand the root causes of hunger
and poverty and how they can take action.
Since 1994, KIDS educational and community service program has brought
enlightenment to thousands of children around the globe. Here are just
a few of the actions that KIDS-inspired students have taken against hunger
in their communities:
-
Producing an award-winning video about hunger and
its solutions.
-
Writing letters to U.S. Senators promoting local
hunger initiatives.
-
Writing and phoning editors of local news media
to raise hunger awareness and highlight their
upcoming hungry advocacy activities.
-
Conducting food drives for local food pantries.
-
Launching and conducting their own classes on
hunger and poverty in their
schools and religious education classes.
-
Increasing awareness of relatives, neighbors and
friends about the causes
and problems of hunger and poverty.
The KIDS program includes:
- Teacher guide: Finding Solutions to Hunger: Kids Can Make A Difference.
- Website: rated by Education World as one of the top 20 websites for
educators.
- Newsletter: published three times a year and reaches more than 2,500
readers.
Just as the number of children who have been and
could be inspired by KIDS is limitless, so are their
ideas on solving hunger and poverty in their world.
